Nightwing #136 is the first part of a new story for Blüdhaven’s favorite son, but it feels like he’s reached a fork in the road…

The Road Taken

Nightwing is back, after DC KO, after helping the Titans evacuate earth, and after the last run of defeating the sinister Zani! So what’s next for the boy wonder? Well if you can believe it… Road works… I jest, it’s really about rebuilding Blüdhaven after the chaotic events of last issue. So he’s boots on the ground. Sherlock Holmes style, seeing the city again for the first time. Relearning what makes the city tick. New Mayor (gotta be evil) new plans (gotta be evil). So there is plenty of new ground for this story to cover.

Nightwing Mobile? BirdCar?

As fun as this issue was, a lot of it was told whilst Dick was driving in what appears to be a Nightwing themed Mustang. As if he wasn’t cool enough. I don’t want to give too much away regarding what is said, and to whom, but I really enjoyed seeing this mature side to Dick, he’s really come into his own in the last 5 or so years. This is another example of that. Very well written. Beautiful art too.

Conclusion

Nightwing #136 is a great start to the new story and gives us a lot to mull over until the next issue!
