Notable Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson is reportedly joining The Batman Part II.
Johansson is allegedly in final negotiations to join the film. However, DC Studios made no official confirmation when asked for comment. There are no indications of what role Johansson will play.
In possibly related news, Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman character is not expected to return for the sequel. While the information source is anonymous sources, it allegedly has intimate knowledge of the movie’s production.
It is probably not likely that Johansson will replace Kravitz as Catwoman. So the mystery remains of who could she play in the sequel. Some fans speculate that she can be another love interest of Bruce Wayne. So maybe she could be Julie Madison, Vicki Vale, or even Silver St. Cloud. However, given impressive resume of action movies, including the Avengers movies, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and Lucy, it would be a shame if Johansson joined another adventure film franchise and not have an active role.
The Biggest Role Scarlett Johansson Could Possibly Play
Many fans have already speculated that Scarlet Johansson could play Andrea Beaumont. Andrea is the love interest from the excellent Batman: The Animated Series spin-off movie Mask of the Phantasm. Spoilers for a 30+ year old movie, Andrea was Bruce Wayne’s love interest before he became Batman. However, when she returned to his life, she revealed that she was also the costume vigilante the Phantasm.

Seeing the Phantasm would be a great twist for the follow-up for The Batman. She can follow Catwoman’s similar role of a love interest who also is a major part of Batman’s crimefighting adventures. However, unlike Catwoman, the Phantasm would be in direct opposition to Batman. In the original animated film, the Phantasm murdered multiple mobsters out of revenge, while also framing Batman for those killings. This could easily make the Phantasm the main villain one of the antagonists for Part II.
The Batman Part II will start production in spring 2026 and will hit theaters on October 1, 2027.
