Scott Snyder unveiled a preview image of the Absolute Batman version of the Joker. And it is not what fans would expect.
DC and Snyder released the cover image of Absolute Batman #15, which features the first full appearance of their version of the Joker. Fans calling the design wildly unexpected is definitely an understatement.
By Nick Dragotta
The Joker in the Absolute universe is a bipedal, bulked-up dragon-looking creature. He even has a snout, serpentine tongue, sharp teeth, dorsal fins, and a tail. Not only is this design a massive step away from the traditional look of the mainstream universe Joker, but it also sharply deviates from the teases from the Absolute universe Joker so far.
Brief History of the Joker in ‘Absolute Batman’
The Absolute version of the Joker first appeared at the end of Absolute Batman #1. He looked like a shadowed rich man gettin onto a helicopter. Creators Snyder and Nick Dragotta purposely obscured him, but fans got a hint of the Joker. He is a rich billionaire who looked completely human. He did not even have chalk-white skin or green hair. This look was also appeared again in the more recent-Absolute Batman #11, where we see a still- obscured Joker chilling on the beach in a Hawaiian shirt.
However, in Absolute Batman #6, fans saw get a crazy different take on the Joker, where he has his chalk-white skin. Except, he seems to also be attached to a throne of babies. Yes, a throne of babies. I keep on emphasizing it, but that is only because it is such an insane concept.

Now, flash-forward to the latest design where the Joker looks like he was possessed by the Venom symbiote. Is this perhaps his final form? Or perhaps the Joker always looks likes this, but needs to feed on babies to appear humanoid. Or maybe this is just a dream, fantasy version of the Joker.
Scott Snyder and Jock are the creative team for the Joker story arc.
Absolute Batman #15 will hit comic book shops on December 10, 2025.
