Titans #27 continues the Beast Boy and Cyborg Road Trip, with the help of The Doom Patrol can they defeat Beast Boy’s greatest foe?
Purple People Hater
When you think of Beast Boy, it’s hard to not picture the goofy cartoon character we’ve seen for many years on Cartoon Network, for older viewers he was always the comic relief but rooted with tragedy. For younger viewers watching Teen Titans Go, he and the rest of the gang are all comic relief with butt jokes and cookies. Every generation has their favorite. So when reading the character who has been around since the 80s we all have our own lense. This issue was a real issue of growth for Gar. I wonder if one day he’ll even adopt the name Beast Man? Assuming Masters of the Universe don’t completely own all rights to that name? Either way, seeing Gar and Vic with the Doom Patrol was great, heroes old and new, learning from each other. Really really good reading! So many wonderful interactions between the Doom Patrol and our guys.
Rush?
One thing that’s a sure fire way to really detract from a great ongoing story is a big end of the world threat. I won’t give anything away, but this issue ends with a message “The Titans take centre stage in DC’s KO” which for all of us ongoing readers is both exciting and slightly annoying. Don’t get me wrong, I love the big events. They are always something to see! End of the world threat’s heroes and villains forever changed. I just hope that in that event we don’t lose all of the growth we’ve enjoyed in this Titans run. Either way we’ll find out when the next issue of Titans comes out in DECEMBER??! Uh Oh.
Conclusion
Titans #27 adds to the list of great character development issues of this run. I hope this keeps going when we come back after DC KO!
