Review by James Attias
Detective Comics #1099 is a reflection on the past. A reality check on the present. As well as a peak at what is to come in the future. Let’s discuss…
Don’t £*#$% With Gotham
The unusual trio of Batman, Harvey Bullock and The Penguin are proving to be an unstoppable force. They have got the sinister immortality seeking group of LXR on the ropes! But this group won’t go down without a fight. Luckily our heroes are just about the fightingest group of fighters we’ve ever seen. Gotham Born and bred. They don’t go down easy. I have to say I love the way Taylor writes Bullock and Cobblepot. Just so effortlessly tough, with a real presence. A joy to read.
See You Soon
As well as a good old fashioned fight and survive issue. We see this trio working together, and really fighting smart. This group is powerful, its ties and connections run deep. It takes a Bat, a Bird and a Bull to really get to the bottom of it. The conclusion to this issue and this story were a healthy dose of closure as well as a mysterious allure of when will this thread be pulled again… I for one, can’t wait.
Conclusion
Detective Comics #1099 is an action packed, joy to read finale to the current story. Next issue is the big Milestone #1100! See you then!
