Review by James Attias
Detective Comics #1097 follows on from where our last story ended, but now we have a new mystery to chase! Let’s sneak in…
Bullock P.I.
One thing that a lot of new Writers to this title tend to overlook, is… It’s a Detective book. Clue is in the name. Detective Comics. They see the big bat symbol and the Batman name and then lose sight of what this book is meant to focus on. Batman is the world’s greatest detective. So it’s absolutely thrilling when we actually get to read about that. This issue and Tom Taylor understood the assignment. As well as the dark knight and his skilled detective ways, we are also treated to some absolute top notch Harvey Bullock, honestly it was so much fun to read this big brash, salt of Gotham detective, following the trail and asking the right questions. Great to see!

As well as this story following on from the last run, we’re treated to some flashbacks, and clues pointing to what is coming next. The writing was as always fantastic. I couldn’t predict what would come next and I love that feeling. The art was wonderful and all in all this was a smokey, noir, detective story that I can’t wait to read more of!
Conclusion
Detective Comics #1097 is only the beginning of this new thrilling detective story! So speed to your local comic book shop and grab a copy asap, you’re not gonna want to miss this!
