The Penguin #12 is the finale of the spectacular mini series by Tom King, and what an ending! An edge of the seat, gripping final issue that brings the whole puzzle together.

The whole series was written like a thriller movie, there were twists and turns at every turn. King managed to even squeeze a few in this issue as well.

Wak Wak Wak

Tom King has truly made The Penguin a terrifying villain in Batman’s rogue gallery now. Gone is the previous perception of him being this joke of a character that wasn’t seen as much of a threat. Instead now we have someone that could go toe-to-toe with some of Batman’s more notable villains.

Cobblepot manipulates everyone he comes into contact with, using them to elevate his own standing and achieve his goal. Every character gets some sort of an ending in this issue. Black Spider gets his vengeance, The Help now serves the crime boss of Gotham, Penguin completes his goal and Batman continues protecting his city the best way he can.

Conclusion

With The Penguin #12 being the final issue, this will be a series I will continue to read for years to come. It should honestly be getting the same kind of treatment as Alan Moore’s The Killing Joke. It’s definitely cemented it’s place in my heart as being one of the best villain centered comic runs.

Not only is King’s writing at its absolute finest, but the artwork in this series matches the writing perfectly. De Latorre and Maiolo do a fantastic job at enhancing the reading experience by creating such an immersive world through their artwork.
