Detective Comics #1088 is a concentrated dose of conclusions, leading up to this run’s big finish.
Ha Ha Havoc
If I didn’t already know that the next run on this title was going to be a completely different story, I would believe with the intro to this issue that The Joker’s Daughter – Who is looking better than ever, despite having a skin mask for a face. Would be the next rogue to test the Bat. We’re still in the thick of the Orgham madness, we now have good guys, bad guys and everyone in between involved. This story has gone off the rails.
This issue itself felt like it was written by at least 4 different people. We have the opening – chilling, interesting and out of nowhere, we have the spooky next few pages straight out of City Of Madness, and then you have a bit of villain on villain action. None of it felt like it went together. But I did enjoy reading it. Let’s hope that some of the art. some of the writing and some of this action follows us to the finale. But who knows…
Golden Child
The back up story in this issue, was an enjoyable one based around Talia Al Ghul, and a new way of resurrecting people. Mainly Arzen Orgham, which sounds like a horrendous insult of a name. He was previously murdered by his own mother many issues ago in this run, he seems different to the rest of the Orgham family, but if I’m being honest with you dear readers, I don’t see him or any of the newly introduced characters making it out of this run at all… What do you all think?
Conclusion
Detective Comics #1088 was a lot to take in, but now that I’ve had a healthy dose of conclusions, I’d like this story washed down with a small cup of espresso ending and the check please!
