Titans #14 is a chaos filled, demon plagued, action packed fight for the soul of our reality! With heroes and villains both trying to out-do each other, but to the victor shall go the earth… FUN!
The Spectre At The Feast
This issue is basically Avengers: Infinity War with the Titans, I will give no more details, but we know how that turned out. . Raven or The Dark Winged Queen as she’s going by secretly now, appears to be encasing powerful beings into soul gems. (Similar to the one she wears on her forehead usually). The plan of the Dark Winged Queen has yet to be fully revealed to us, but we expect it won’t be sunshine and rainbows all around. At least now the Titans know the Raven isn’t Raven. That mystery has been going on for a year, since the ending of Knight Terrors (which Nightwing reveals was only a few months ago in the story’s continuity.
Taylor’s writing style in this issue, gets us up to speed and to the point very quickly. Which I’m a big fan of. There’s nothing worse than the audience knowing something and desperately wanting the characters to catch up. We had a little of that last issue/the issue before, but it was handled so well. It wasn’t dragged on, which made this issue all the more satisfying to read.
You Should Have Gone For The Head
We see this issue just how big a threat the Dark Winged Queen is. I’ll be interested to see how this storyline wraps up, in relation to the current ongoing event Absolute Power – reviewed for Dark Knight News by yours truly. As the Titans have a prominent role in that as well.
I have talked about Taylor’s writing in this issue being light, heavy and perfect all at the same time. But let’s talk about how beautiful the art is… Daniele Di Nicuolo and Adriano Lucas, take a bow. The characters, the colors, the set pieces and the easter eggs. Just wonderful. I can’t stress enough how great art can make even the worst comic better – See All Star Batman and Robin. But with the wonderful writing and great art, this was a pleasure from cover to cover.
Conclusion
Titans #14 sets us up for a huge battle for the fate of the world. But who will prevail… Good or Evil?
