Review by Philip Clark
Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum #2 is here and it’s a doozie! From the first panel to the last, we’re kept on the edge of our seats. We get high-octane thrills, action, blood, and guts everywhere; no I’m not talking about James Gunn’s action blockbuster movie. Why go to the cinema, when you can get all of that right here in this comic?
The World’s Deadliest Assassin?
What happens when you put together two of DC’s hottest hitmen? Well, it immediately becomes a competition of who’s the manliest. When the two men in question are Deathstroke and Deadshot, most DC fans would only pick one winner.
This issue is panel to panel, and page to page filled with the debate of who the best is, and entering the chat surprisingly is Great White Shark (mostly because of a classic case of mistaken identity).
I really love the dynamic between these three characters, Layman does a great job at the back-and-forth between Floyd and Slade, plus, the hilarious odd comments by Great White Shark also raise eyebrows.
Wanting to be seen as an ‘equal’ to the others is something I found hilarious because the second that either of them knew he wasn’t who they thought he was, they’d have left him.
Hervas and Baron do an excellent job at creating the chaos in the background of these pages with their art. My favorite images are the panels of an unconscious team member in the foreground with escaping prisoners in their varying groups behind him.
Conclusion
Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum #2 really shows things heating up and progressing quickly, which is great because I feel like that’s exactly what Suicide Squad is and should be; an enjoyable, fast, high-action collection of one-liners.
Great fun.
