Titans: Beast World #6 brings us the cosmic saga’s beastly conclusion. However, the Green Cat’s out of the bag, and we now know who the real villain has been all along.

Raven?! nevaR!

This issue brings the Mammoth event to a close, and I’m going to see how many animals I can reference in this review. We’re already at 2, but who’s counting?

So, now we know (as per the last issue) that Raven’s Demon self has escaped from her soul Gem and has been parading around for months (way back to Knight Terrors) as Dr. Hate. This issue sees the showdown between the daughter of Trigon and the Titan we all know and love, but which of these Hell Birds will come out on top?

Meanwhile, the rest of the heroes are coming together for a last-ditch attempt to stop the fiendish snake that is Amanda Waller from destroying half the world and all the people who are infected. This part of the plan felt quite built up and then led me to a “Why didn’t they do that all along?” Of course, that’s just nit-picky, so let’s focus on the ending rather than the McGuffin.

Chaos, Order, and Justice

The art in the finale of this event was magnificent, this really was a beautifully drawn and colored comic. Two Gorilla sized thumbs up from me. Tom Taylor writes the Titans better than anyone I’ve read in the last 20 years. It’s refreshing to see them so well-written, and brilliantly drawn. This creative team has been stellar.

I’ve said from the start that this event, as well drawn and well-written as it was, felt like an in-between story, which I must reiterate now. I believe that more needs come from this saga, and hope that it doesn’t slip into the forgotten tales of “No Justice”, “Knight Terrors”, and “Lazarus Planet”, all of which were a big deal until the next bigger more important event came about.

This is an important read, so if you’re planning to read what comes next don’t sleep on “Beast Planet” because, as a stand-alone, it may fall into obscurity. This tale deserves better than that.

Conclusion

Titans: Beast World #6 delivers a great finale, full of twists and revelations. I can’t wait to see what comes next.
