“The Offer” – Part Three

Batman: The Adventures Continue #3.8 brings us the final chapter of what’s probably my favorite BTAC story to date! A bold claim, I know, but I can back it up.
Battle Under Gotham
Ra’s Al Ghul has been spinning a yarn to Batman over the last three issues, but he hasn’t fooled us has he? This story is fantastic, from start to finish. I won’t go into too much detail as there are a lot of potential spoilers in this issue, but trust me when I say that it’s wonderful. This feels to me like it could have been a 2 or 3 part episode of the animated series, if not a feature-length film!
So, we have a few plot threads going into this issue; the offer from the Demon’s head, The Court of Owls, the kidnapped super villains, and the mysterious wonder grain that will feed the world. That seems like a lot of loose ends for one issue to tie up, but the creative team does so perfectly. It doesn’t feel too busy, it doesn’t feel rushed. It’s wonderfully written and beautifully drawn.

Everyone who knows that Batman: The Animated Series is the finest content to ever appear on TV will love this issue. You have elements that the deepest truest nerd will love as well as new readers who just want a well-written, well-drawn story. I honestly can’t praise this issue enough. I laughed, I gasped, I smiled, and then I cried. Honestly, I’m tempted to add this story to my imaginary list of books I would go back and read again for the first time.
Conclusion
Batman: The Adventures Continue #3.8 is a flawless Batman story worthy of the highest praise! I mean, the main cover is a direct tribute/homage to the cover of volume 1 ‘1 of the original Batman Adventures comic from way back in 1992! What more could anyone ask for?!? I’ll tell you what! A three issue arc to start the Adventures Continue and a three story arc to finish this wonderful run!
