Sideshow And Hot Toys Unveil Their Newest Figure: ‘The Joker’ Artisan Edition

Sideshow Collectibles have teamed up with Hot Toys to give us this stunning new The Joker Collectors Edition figure. Inspired by the brilliant Dark Knight Trilogy, the resemblance to the late Heath Ledger’s legendary version of the character is uncanny. Hot Toys has released multiple versions of Ledger’s Joker throughout the years, each time improving its materials and designs to achieve the most faithful, high-quality figure. This newest addition is like no other.

For their latest Joker, Hot Toys worked closely with the Hong Kong Film Director, Derek Kwok, to design a custom suit and signature purple coat that would fit the figure perfectly. Everything, from the fabric used to how the clothes overlap, was taken into consideration to get it to the highest level of screen accuracy. Created with delicate fabrics and accurate patterns that are meticulously matched up, not a single part of this Joker figure has gone overlooked.

Packed with minute details, The Joker has separate rolling eyes and interchangeable hands and heads to pose as your favorite movie stills. One head shows him licking his lips, while the other has him showing his teeth in a menacing expression, but both have his iconic ruined makeup. This figure also comes with a variety of his favorite weapons, miniature playing cards, and banknotes, as well as an LED diorama base with the bat symbol.

Don’t miss your chance to add this Collectors Edition figure to your collection and pre-order at Sideshow Collectibles.

That isn’t all! In a behind-the-scenes youtube video with the Kwok and Hot Toys Founder and CEO, Howard Chan, they talk about The Joker Artisan Edition. Not yet available to pre-order, this figure comes with a difference from the standard Collectors Edition figure. Using wool hair implants to create Joker’s green coiffed hairstyle, the piece achieves another level of realism. The size of the figures also differs from their last Joker release, with the newer ones standing a little taller to reflect more accurately on Ledger’s height.

In the video, the creators talk about how they chose the two expressions that they have and talk about just how much thought went into every detail to make their figures as screen-accurate as possible. They also say that they are working towards mass production with this new, even more realistic style. It’s very clear just how much passion went into creating these figures and making them look ridiculously realistic. As Kwok says:

I know Howard is “insane” on these things. So when he came to me this time, I was like, he himself is so “crazy” and thinking, if I’m not “crazy” enough, how am I supposed to help him work on this together?
