James Gunn Has Found DCs New Superman and Lois Lane

After a long, dramatic journey, James Gunn has confirmed that he has found DCs new Superman (Clark Kent) and Lois Lane.

Filming screen tests over the weekend of June 17th, David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan were among six other actors who tried for the beloved DC characters. Also fighting for their chance at staring in the upcoming movie, Superman: Legacy, were Nicholas Hoult and Tom Brittney to play Supes, and Emma Mackey and Phoebe Dynevor for the role of Lois.

So, with that said, DC’s new Universe has its first iconic power couple. Gunn’s casting hasn’t been wrong yet, so all we can do is trust his choices. Not that we’ll be forgiving him for giving us back Henry Cavill’s Superman and then stealing all our hopes and dreams away, though.

As with all superhero roles, stepping up as one of DC’s biggest heroes and his love interest comes with a lot of pressure and media attention. With the current state of DC Studios and their movies, it’s even worse because they’ll be expected to create a miracle. Thankfully, Emmy and Golden Globe winner for her hit series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Brosnahan seems to be up to the challenge. This movie is also a huge genre shift for Corenswet, who has appeared in The Politician, Own This City, and Twisters, among other smaller roles.

The new DCU’s starting off with Superman: Legacy, set to release on July 11th, 2025, with production slated to begin early next year. Fingers crossed that we’ll see Batman and Wonder Woman also star in their own Legacy movies to really kick the revamped Universe off. Now that DCs new Superman has been found, we’re interested in who’ll be cast next.
