Review by Fay Clark

There’s always so much going on in this series, and I love it. Although I do miss seeing Jason Todd-focussed issues, I still enjoy being able to jump around Gotham and check in with the whole family like last time. So, let’s do that; Future State Gotham #15, here we come!

What, in the name of Character Development?!?

All day, every day Dennis Culver writes things that blow me away. There are so many characters to keep track of, and so many plotlines, with some intertwining over the course of the series so far. To keep everything interesting and involved, with a massive city-wide plotline going on, looping everyone’s stories together in the end? Just outstanding.

I can see it all coming together and am so excited to see where everything’s heading. I love that I can see Culver’s process of bringing everything together. It was all fun and games back with, what felt like, single-issue stories. I know these are still individual chapters, but you can tell they’re aiming for a more inclusive story to feel like a part of something larger.

Dennis Culver KNOWS how to write my boy, Jason Todd. What a guy. I need people to read this issue so that I can nerd out about one scene in particular… YOU KNOW WHICH ONE! Culver is killing me with the sarcasm, and I love it.

There are two things that are needed when writing the Batboys, sarcasm and GIVING THEM A BREAK! Please stop hurting my babies. I love it for the entertainment factor but hate it for the characters’ sake.

Rock, Paper, SWORD

Giannis Milonogiannis, I mean… I’m a fan. The way that every panel’s so detailed and brilliantly drawn. A lot happens, in general, this month, but to be able to depict that in such epic detail is amazing. Obviously, the scene mentioned above was drawn awesomely and really made the perfect impact for what Dennis seemed to be going for.

The artwork really meshes well with the storytelling, they flow so well together and boost each other up. Yet again, I was drawn in by the images and lost myself in this comic.

It’s Lunch Time

Oh, Oh I loved this strip. We get to see CASS… I love Cass! Anytime someone writes about Casandra Cain, I’m so there! This was one of the best backup stories we’ve had, though I’m pretty sure I say that every time! Guillaume Singelin seems to be a very talented gentleman; he’s the artist, writer, and letterer for “Hunter or Hunted“.

The depiction of a tired Cass just wanting to eat lunch killed me. That’s the sass we know and love, this was a great and fast-paced tale. I really hope we get to see more of Cass in the main storyline…

Conclusion

DO IT. Just start reading the series. You’ll love it, I know I do. This book is just so much fun to read and you never know what’s going to happen in any given issue. It always leaves you wanting more! Being able to see where Dennis Culver’s going with this is great, yet I still have no idea what the big scene at the end will be.

I hope that something will slip out about it soon! I can not wait to catch up with Gotham again next time!
