Title For ‘Joker’ Sequel Revealed

Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck, was a huge hit when it first came out in 2019, and now we finally have the name of its sequel!

Originally intended to be a standalone movie, after bringing in $1 billion worldwide, DC and Warner Bros. have decided that fans deserved more of this new version of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Director Todd Phillips took to Instagram recently to share two photos.

“Folie à Deux” is a French term meaning “folly of two” or “madness of two”, which is also a psychiatric syndrome that refers to sharing delusional beliefs, or even hallucinations, between two people. Although Phillips hasn’t revealed anything more about the movie and what we might expect, the name is enough to get us fans thinking. For those who don’t remember exactly how Joker ended: spoilers ahead.

Arthur Fleck, after embracing his Joker alter ego, murders a famous talk show host, Murray Abraham (Robert De Niro), on live TV. sending Gotham into chaos. Joker is driven to Arkham State Hospital through a crowd of people donning his iconic face paint, as they riot and vandalise the city. At the same time, a young Bruce Wayne watches his parents get gunned down by one of the rioters.

There are several ideas that people have run with, one being that a new version of Harley Quinn could be added to the DC Universe, especially since he was already on his way to Arkham in the first movie, where is it well-know that she works as a psychiatrist and eventually falls under his charm. Another theory comes from star Willem Defoe, who said in an interview before that he wants to play a Joker imposter who clashes with Phoenix’s version. Some fans think that maybe Gotham could face two Jokers fighting for the throne of the Clown Prince of Crime.

Although, this early into production, the tile, “Folie à Deux” may eventually change, but we are still very excited to see what this new film will throw at us.
