Harley Quinn #10 comes to readers this week with a fantastic story and a fabulous selection of covers as well. Readers were given three different ones to choose from, each with its own special details and delicious artwork. Regular series artist Riley Rossmo and variant legend Derrick Chew give us the standard display of their immense talents with their offerings, but I admit a partiality to the Rachta Lin cover.

Now with the “Fear State” arc fully closed, it is time to see how the ripples will affect Harley’s world.

Every Rose Must Bear Thorns

Readers get a beautiful intimate view of Harley and Ivy as they get ready for a date with Kevin and Sam. Ivy wants a whole new life with Harley outside of Gotham…but is she asking too much?

Of all the Harley Quinn issues so far in this series, this one jumps to the forefront as a favorite. In fact, Harley Quinn #10 is probably one of my favorite examples of how art and writing can not only go hand in hand but can actually enhance and accentuate one another to higher levels.

Harley’s first-person narration, and in fact all of the aspects of this issue where her and Ivy’s relationship is on display are done in ways that can be cherished by the reader and show just how much growth Harley’s achieved. It would be easy to look past these small growths with the comedy that one expects from this title, but Harley’s taken her mistakes and is not only set on atoning for them but is also set on succeeding in her endeavor to become a hero.

Conclusion

Stephanie Phillips has given readers the deeper side of Harley over the last 10 issues, I truly look forward to seeing what awaits her after all the hardships she has been through including in Harley Quinn #10.

If there is an issue of this series that one would be very sorry to miss… it’s this one.
