Justice League director Zack Snyder reflected on what villains he wished he could have used if he continued in the DCEU.
In an interview with the BroBible, Snyder revealed that he wished he could have used Catwoman, the Riddler, and the Penguin.
“[I’d] Very much so [would use the Penguin]. Obviously Catwoman is someone we talked about and we had a Riddler concept that we talked about. Remember, The Riddler was kind of like the one who figured out the Anti-Life Equation on Earth in the spec scripts.”
As many fans know, Snyder’s original plan was to have three Justice League films. However, those plans were cut short due to studio interference and the death of his daughter Autumn. However, plot details for the epic three-part Justice League vision popped up on the internet soon after Zack Snyder’s Justice League hit HBO Max earlier this year. The plot details also included Batman battling the Riddler. At one point, the Riddler also discovered the Anti-Life Equation. But he committed suicide after becoming overwhelmed by the Equation.
Zack Snyder also delved in deeper what intrigues him about the Penguin. The director took it as an opportunity to deconstruct the character.
“Frankly, I’d love to see Penguin — I think will be cool. I think that’s a great character and I’d love to see a version of Penguin that has an inherent camp to it. It’d be awesome to see how you could deconstruct it and make him into something crazy.”
Zack Snyder on ‘The Batman’ Characters
For Bat-fans, the list of characters is also coincidentally the same as the villains roster in the upcoming The Batman film by Matt Reeves. Is it possible that Snyder is just super-hyped from seeing the latest trailer of The Batman? He definitely showed his love for it on Twitter.
