Review by Sam McTernan

I’ve always believed that if something’s a quick read, then it’s usually not only very good, but you’ve clearly enjoyed it. Teen Titans #45 was exactly that for me, I’d barely picked it up before I was finished. I actually had to read it twice, just to fulfil my Teen Titans buzz. Building on the momentum from the last few issues, #45 is definitely a winner, you could say it’s quite literally SUPER. Boy… I hope that’s not a spoiler?

I’ll be honest, but with all the Batman and Deathstroke shenanigans going on, it was always going to be a challenge to keep that pace going. After reading this you’ll honestly believe that Robbie Thompson could keep this momentum, issue after issue without breaking a sweat. Not only is he very clever, with how he weaves the various characters through the overall story arc, but he’s also brilliant at inserting some very funny moments. I’m talking about you, everyone’s fourth favourite Robin. (it’ll make sense when you read it), that line had me in stitches.

Of course its not all down to Robbie, as Javier Fernandez is an extremely talented artist. I absolutely love his style, and truly believe that it enhances the story even further. Talking about enhancing, Maiolo’s genius with his color palette blows my mind. It’s amazing to see writing and art come together this well, as we’ve all seen great comics let down by one or the other. Also, a big shout out to Mr Bernard Chang on the cover art, great to see him still involved with Teen Titans after such his great run on art duties.

I keep looking for faults in Teen Titans #45, but I honestly can’t find any. If I had to pick one, it would be that I have to wait for another issue to keep enjoying this run. Genuinely loving this and I know you will too. Great job team, can’t wait for #46
