New IMAX Poster for ‘Birds of Prey’ Released

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

As we forge onward towards the release of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), more and more marketing material is surfacing on the Internet. The campaign seems to be a mixed bag of traditional marketing with at least one added twist to spice things up. The latest addition is a new IMAX poster.

It’s news to me, but I suppose most mainstream are screened in IMAX theatres nowadays. A few days ago, the official IMAX Twitter unveiled the official BoP IMAX poster, to hype the release of the newest DC flick on the giant screen.

BIrds on the Big Screen

Take a look below:

Not too much to gather from this, and, I hate to say it, but I feel like this is not a very good IMAX poster. In my experience, studios reserve the most interesting and epic art for the IMAX posters befitting of the larger, more epic screen. However, this is simply a photo of the cast with some feathers added in through Photoshop. It retains the aesthetic theme seen throughout all of the marketing: the saturated filter mimicking the pop-art style, but not the look of paint and illustration of the character posters. Personally, the only thing that I find interesting here is that we’re getting a really good look at Harley’s bracelet. It’s a beautiful nod to the classic Harley. Check out the diamonds in red and black on her right wrist. Awesome.

Advance IMAX tickets are now available for purchase here.

What do you think of the new IMAX poster for Birds of Prey? Let me know.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) hits all theatres on February 7th.
