WB Releases Two New Photos from ‘Birds of Prey’

Article by Adam Poncharoensub

With just a little over a month until the release of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), it was time for WB to start throwing out pieces of marketing material, in the hopes that they’ll catch. In this case, it’s random stills from the movie that slightly hint at a scene, but don’t give too much away. The Fox network has been notorious for dumping photos like these weeks prior to an airing of an episode. Over the last few days, WB have released two new photos from Birds of Prey.

The first comes from Fandango’s Twitter and in my opinion, it’s the most interesting of the two:

It’s an overall, pretty well composed shot with a dynamic angle and interesting lighting. Here we see Ewan McGregor’s smartly dressed Roman Sionis and Chris Messina’s Victor Zsasz hovering over a bound Harley Quinn, played by the delightful Margot Robbie once more. Sionis is threatening Harley with a relatively measly pocket knife that doesn’t seem to intimidate her at all. At least, based on this still and Robbie’s expression, it doesn’t seem like it.

Since we don’t see any of the other supporting characters like Huntress, Black Canary, or Cassandra Cain, I’m going to venture a guess that this is early in the film. I suppose before this scene, we’ll find out exactly what sort of beef Sionis has with Harls.

The next photo is a exclusive from USA Today:

This scene presumably directly precedes Fandango’s still, in that this is how Harley gets into her predicament. Seemingly cornered by a few thugs with firearms, she seems somewhat stressed, but still in good spirits, definitely in character for our beloved Quinn. There are two things that caught my eye in this still. The first is her ridiculous jacket full of shimmering fringes and even police caution tape. The last thing that catches my eye is the piece of paper in her right hand. Could that be what lands her in the clutches of Sionis?

Well, those are the two new photos from Birds of Prey. Like I said… random. Nothing particularly exciting and definitely not enough to guess what this movie’s really about. However, still enough to pique interest.

What do you think that piece of paper represents, if it has any significance at all? Why do you think that Harley was captured by Black Mask’s thugs? Are you excited for the flick? Let us know.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) hits theatres on February 7, 2020. Stay tuned to DKN for more updates.
