Chris McKay, director of The LEGO Batman Movie revealed on Twitter that he would be interested in directing a live-action DC Extended Universe movie.
When taking questions from fans on Twitter, McKay responded to one fan @Mighty_Icon’s tweet suggesting that he would love to see McKay direct a DCEU movie in the near future. To which McKay tweeted back:
@Mighty_Icon it’s a long shot but I’d like to be a part of it somehow. Thank you, btw

As amazing as it would be to see McKay – who also directed episodes of Robot Chicken – direct a comedy-driven DCEU movie, it is implied that is probably not going to happen. Still, that has not stopped @Mighty_Icon from starting a petition to give McKay a DCEU project. McKay then tweeted back:
Thanks! That’s nice @Mighty_Icon but I’m going to go in and see those guys and pitch myself and go from there…but thank you!

So far, the DCEU has a couple of movies that have no directors attached to them. Among them are The Flash, Cyborg, and Shazam. Perhaps McKay could helm one of those films. Personally, an action-comedy Shazam movie by McKay sounds pretty awesome.
The LEGO Batman Movie comes out in theaters February 10, 2017.
