Quite recently, Ben Affleck gave a worrying production update on his solo Batman outing, stating that it’s “not a set thing and there’s no script.” Despite this, a new report suggests that The Batman is still on track to start production this spring, and it may have found its Gotham City.
Various sources have stated that Los Angeles will be transformed into Gotham City and become a primary shooting location for Ben Affleck’s Batman flick. It is important to note that Christopher Nolan’s final entry into the Dark Knight Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, was shot in L.A. as well, so the setting should be very familiar to Batfans.
Speaking last month, Ben Affleck provided a comment on the status of his film, stating: “if it doesn’t come together in a way I think is really great, I’m not going to do it.” While this made a lot of fans nervous, there is no evidence to suggest that the film won’t still begin production in the spring.
The film currently stars Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons reprising their roles as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Alfred respectively, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Jim Gordon and Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke. Affleck is set to direct the flick and is also writing the screenplay with DC Entertainment President Geoff Johns.
