Comic-Con Report: ‘Justice League Action’ Footage Debuts

While we have heard rumors and seen some character designs for the new cartoon Justice League Action, footage finally debuted at San Diego Comic-Con.

Holy Cow! There are a lot of characters to unpack in that small 90 second trailer! Seen in the trailer were Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Joker, Lex Luthor, Solomon Grundy, Mr. Freeze, Green Arrow, Chronos, Cyborg, Toy Man, Lobo, Hawkman, Brainiac, Dex-Starr, Firestorm, Zatanna, Vixen, Booster Gold, Plastic Man, and weirdest of all: Space Cabbie!

Justice League Action will be on Cartoon Network in 11-minute installments, ala Adventure Time. The show is also notable for having both Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprise their voiceover roles as Batman and Joker, respectively, along with other DC cartoon alums, like Diedrich Bader (Batman: The Brave and the Bold) as Booster Gold and James Woods (Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths) as Lex Luthor.

Some interesting Bat-related tidbits from the Justice League Action panel include Booster Gold’s relationship to Batman, whether Robin will make an appearance, and Hamill playing the Joker.

Bader on Booster Gold and Batman’s relationship:

“Booster really looks up to Batman, (like a) hero/father relationship. It actually hurts him when Batman criticizes him and calls him a child — he is a child, but it still hurts to hear him call him that.”

Conroy on Hamill as the Joker:

“I wish people could see him, what he does when he’s in the booth. He becomes the Joker. He’s a generous actor. He knows that the more you give, the more you’ll get. He gives me so much in recording, which inspires me to give so much more back.”

Show producer Butch Lukic on Robin:

“There currently is no Robin on the show, but would probably appear in a second season.”

Justice League Action will debut on Cartoon Network in the Fall.
