A few days ago, the WB and DC announced Injustice 2, seemingly out of nowhere. At the time, there was absolutely no gameplay in the trailer, but the cinematic footage was still breathtaking. With that, I believed that they hadn’t gotten too far into development. As if they wanted to make me look stupid, it was announced that WB would be unveiling the gameplay just 3 days following the announcement.
The trailer appeared at the MKX Pro League Finals, alongside Ed Boon, and amidst raucous applause. To say the least, it does not disappoint.
Right off the bat, they’re treating us to a brief cameo of Dex-Starr atop the left shoulder of Atrocitus. Then, Supergirl and the fearsome Red Lantern start their brawl. Grodd appears to Aquaman, and of course, Bats faces off against Supes. Oh yeah, and Black Manta(!) makes an unexpected appearance as well.
Once Gorilla Grodd was announced a few days ago, I was wondering how they’d incorporate his telekinesis into the fray. Well, he literally has his opponents hitting themselves. We’re also seeing some incredible stage transitions that really made me feel each hit. And lastly, we got a brief glimpse at the upgraded equipment that was mentioned at the announce. Bats went from just being very armored to being heavily armored.
It doesn’t look like it’s going to disappoint.
Expect Injustice 2 to hit Xbox One and PS4 in 2017.
