Ben McKenzie Rams Head into Concrete on Set of Gotham, Suffers Gash to Forehead

As I’ve said on multiple times, I was initially very apprehensive about Gotham, but after catching that behind-the-scenes featurette, “The Legend Reborn,” I was sold.  I’m not a fan of TV dramas or crime procedurals, but so far everything involving Bruce Wayne in that preview is absolutely incredible and I can’t wait.

If there was any more reason to watch it, apparently blood was shed in the making of the show. Real blood! How metal is that? On Friday, Ben McKenzie, the man who is bringing our live-action TV Jim Gordon to life, suffered a head injury. Apparently, while filming a fight sequence, McKenzie accidentally rammed his head into a concrete pillar. He got a pretty big gash as a result of that fumble. Not metal enough? It was on his 36th birthday. A fight sequence, a nice meeting with a concrete pillar, and a trip to the doctor’s. That’s a good birthday.

Pics or it didn’t happen, right? Well, here you go:

This photo came with the caption: “Holy concrete wall, Batman! #gotham”

Caption: “Doc Sherman at New York-Presbyterian, you are a career saver. Thanks for stitching me up nice. Back to work Monday. #gotham”

And lastly:

Caption: “Happy Birthday to me. Fight sequence gone awry. Don’t ram your head into concrete pillars kids. #gotham”

Gotham premieres on September 22nd, on Fox.
