Hush is undoubtedly one of the biggest villains to be introduced into the Batman mythos since the turn of the century. Since he debuted in the story arc of the same name, he hasn’t appeared very often. Though when he does, you know that something is about to hit the fan. Dr. Thomas Elliot isn’t just any villain – he’s the scheming, “big picture” type.
Ever since his last appearance in the arc known as “House of Hush”, many fans have wondered what has become of him. To my knowledge, he has yet to appear in The New 52. Though like many major Batman stories, “Hush” likely did take place in the new timeline, with the exception of certain details (Selina Kyle knowing Batman is Bruce Wayne obviously isn’t part of New 52 canon).
Since we got that flash forward of Gotham in flames back in Batman Eternal #1, I and many other fans have theorized that it could be Hush who is responsible. After all, doesn’t it seem like a “big picture” type of guy is pulling the strings in this series? Even if he is not THE villain, it appears that he will soon put in an appearance because someone looking a lot like him graces the cover of next month’s Batman Eternal #25. Check out the solicit and cover below and judge for yourself.
