Rumor: Matthew Goode Met with WB/DC Executives for Batman vs. Superman

Sources say that Matthew Goode has officially met with the executives over at WB and DC to discuss an undisclosed role in the Man of Steel follow-up, tentatively titled Batman vs. Superman.

Way back in August before Batfleck and Eisenberg-gate happened, there were still so many rumors flying around about who will don the great cape and cowl. Hollywood Reporter put a list of what they considered to be the top names in the running. Though none of these very capable men were cast for the part, the actor that was on top of this list, Josh Brolin, confirmed that there were very early talks, which unfortunately just never developed any further.

Well, there’s more to the story that not only corroborates the list but also about the fact that Hollywood Reporter is not a rag you sneeze at. ComicBookMovie has a scoop that Matthew Goode has met with studio execs for a role in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman. The exact role remains unknown. Goode appeared right at the bottom of the list, though whether or not it was an indication of his ranked consideration on that list, it was never specified.

Goode is no stranger to comic book/superhero movies, having played the villainous Ozymandias in Zack Snyder’s other comic book adaptation, Watchmen. There are a considerable amount of glaring similarities between Ozymandias and Lex Luthor, that it wouldn’t have been a stretch for Goode to play Luthor, had the role not went to Eisenberg.

Being unfamiliar with his work aside from Watchmen, I can’t really say for sure what other character he’d fit. Regardless, as CBM’s source is a dude named General Napier (obvious reference to Jack Nicholson’s Joker in Burton’s Batman?) and the fact that this is another unconfirmed rumor, you’ve got to make sure there’s some salt close by.

What character do you think Goode would fit? Do you think he’d be a good addition to the cast? Let me know.
