Henry Cavill Speaks About A ‘World’s Finest’ Film

Figures the World would end before I got a chance to see a Batman/Superman film.

Batman and Superman. You really can’t have one without the other being too far away. They’re friends, colleagues, and they are almost always at odds with each other for their methodology because of who they are. It’s because of these dynamics that we as readers and viewers get to see their friendship constantly evolve and change, as they challenge the other’s worldview, making them more complex and three-dimensional characters. At the end of the day though, they are  most likely best friends, even during those odd periods where Superman and Batman aren’t on the best of terms, it always goes back to their incredible tight bond, and partnership. For the longest time, fans have been hoping for a Superman/Batman movie, the world’s finest together again for the first time on the big screen. There’s been attempts, and even posters done up for it.  Here’s a fun trivia fact, the I Am Legend film with Will Smith that came out a few years ago actually had a big Superman/Batman film poster in it. So with Man of Steel on the rise, will that be on the table if it’s a huge success? There’s already a demand for a Justice League film and if Man of Steel does as well as it’s expected to do, there’ll certainly be sequels.  Henry Cavill, who’ll be playing Superman in the Man of Steel film, decided to chime in on his thoughts on the matter of what a Batman and Superman movie would be like.

I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story. Who knows, I’m sure there’s all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros right now.

So Superman is already on board with the idea, but what’s more important is that WB is throwing around ideas. Ideas that hopefully become made into movies. Movies that I personally would probably camp out to go see because I’ve only been asking for a World’s Finest movie since I was six years old. On the bright side, they are launching that new Batman/Superman comic this summer, so my and many other’s fans desire to see the two big titans of DC teaming up once again will be fulfilled soon enough. Maybe DC will think it’s a viable movie if it sells well?
