The Eisner Awards nominations are out and once again DC and the Batman titles have been heavily represented.
Similar to last year, DC just killed it. It holds 16 whopping nomniations. This beats out Fantagraphics’ 14 nominations and Image Comics’ 12 nominations. And it absolutely obliterated its chief rival Marvel Comics, who only received 4 nominations.
Speaking of “Absolutely”, Absolute Batman received 5 nominations on its own. The Absolute line has been well-represented with Absolute Batman and its cohorts, like Absolute Martin Manhunter and Absolute Wonder Woman received multiple big nominations, like “Best Continuing Series”.
Absolute Batman received nominations for “Best Continuing Series”; “Best Cover Artist” for series illustrator Nick Dragotta; “Best Writer” for Scott Snyder; “Best Lettering” for Clayton Cowles; and “Best Single Issue/ One Shot” for the phenomenal Absolute Batman Annual 2025.
But if that wasn’t enough Batman love, Matt Fraction’s Batman relaunched also received an Eisner nod. It received a nomination for “Best New Series”. Additionally, Chris Samnee and Hayden Sherman also received “Best Penciller/Inker” nominations for their works on Batman and Robin: Year One and Batman: Dark Patterns respectively.
Overall, there is a ton of DC love from the Eisner Awards. Hopefully, it can also nab a couple of awards come July.
The Eisner Awards ceremony is held on July 24th, during Comic-Con weekend.
