Harley Quinn #52 is upon us readers and with it comes the tale of Ravager of Harley Quinn facing off. We get a kooky cover by Elizabeth Torque and Dave McCaig. Harley Quinn #52’s main cover features Harley facing off against a cell phone man who is trying to garrote her with a charging cable. Elizabeth and Dave have brought quite a vivid scene to life. LEt’s check in and see how that life is going for Harley Quinn, eh?
Why The Old Lady Hair?
As we enter the world of Harley Quinn #52, we find ourselves before a city council hearing grievances. Harley Quinn, Althea, and The Ravager are there for Harley’s protest against an “Obstructive Nuisance Erection”. Each of them vies to tell their version of the story but a new installation by Althea has gone up. A new multi-purpose stall has been installed to promote convenience to the denizens. Only one issue, it happens to be parked right at Mrs. Grimaldi’s front door.
While we see events play out, sometimes talking over each other, the three ladies take turns telling the events leading up to appearing before the council. But their stories are not the only one that will be brought to light. Chicken Fingers has been trying to help Harley with the advice of a non-violent path for the issue she is fighting for Mrs. Grimaldi. But there is a reason Chicken won’t step into the council chambers, demons he must face. Especially when Chicken Fingers is not on Harley’s side of things!
A Different Perspective On Things
Elliot Kalan set us up with The Ravager in Harley Quinn #51, leaving readers on a climax of a sniper scope. If I am honest, the story for Harley Quinn #52 featuring The Ravager and Harley is definitely not what I expected. Not necessarily a negative connotation meant, just that with the seriousness we left off with, I expected a more formidable story for Ravager. We were given more of a “Teaching” moment in seeing things from different sides. An important message, to be sure, just not what I expected.
The artwork by Mindy Lee and colors by Triona Farrell are beautifully done. The moments between Harley and Chicken Fingers are really quite touching. It allows quite a number of issues that Harley had not even pondered on, being unaware of the true depth of the problems because she is unaffected. Harley Quinn #52 shows the blade of compromise between preservation and forward movement. How they can come together for the betterment of the community. Beautifully done.
Conclusion
Harley Quinn #52 leaves us with a bit of a cliff- hanger of another sort altogether. Join me next time to see what is to come next for Harley Quinn. See you next time, friends!
