Harley Quinn #51 is upon us readers and with it the fate of Harley Quinn. Between the Gunbuddies and her own dang self, it sure is hard to figure out just who will be the one to bring Harley to her demise.  I mean we are our own worst enemy but Harley has decided to put theory into practice. For better or worse.

The cover that Elizabeth Torque and Dave McCaig give us an astonishingly detailed, hoarder friendly entry into Harley’s mind. It is colorful, chaos, and completely Harley, the good and the bad. Anxiety who? Over-thinkers who? Yeah, me too Harls. Felt.

Your Body Is A Temple

Oh Harley Quinn #51 starts off with a bang, right back in the action! We immediately are set in a scene where Harley Quinn has not only been captured but is facing potential death at the hands of…the Gunbuddies? Gunbunny and Mayfly are the pair that make up the overly cautious and loyal bestie assassins queued up to take down Harley Quinn. Unfortunately for Harley, her fellow Throatcutter Hill Neighborhood Association are watching the whole potential assassination play out.

Even worse for Harley, the battle between her and her brain is finally coming to a climax…literally? Figuratively? Meta-physically? Either way, none of the parts of Harley are working while her internal debate takes center stage. Can she come to some kind of compromise with herself? Just who will be the responsible party for the death of Harley Quinn?   Bets are on, bidding closed!

Those Two Bimbos Are Gonna Kill Harley Quinn?

The artwork for Harley Quinn #50 is so lush and magnificent. Mirka Andolfo presents some amazing scenes. Some beyond the imaginary. Beyond Freud even. The fight scenes inside Harley’s mind space is one unlike any other. Especially the making up scene.  A take on self love sure to either drop your jaw, giggle…or wonder. It is the mad fever dream that a manic break feels like. When even your own self can’t find recognition with your choices. Seeing Harley’s neighborhood crew rally around her over the course of these has been a joy.

There were many good movements forward for Harley this issue. Including the scenes where her neighbors stand tall for her. Grimaldi most of all, causing others to look at who they truly are in their character. Mrs. Grimaldi has shown herself to definitely be someone I would want on my side of the fight for sure. Really loving the death of character being given to Delores and The Gunbuddies are quite the pair, they bring a good sense of comedic relief to readers, although probably not so much the person who hired them, Althea.

Conclusion

Now that heart, mind, and superego seem, for now at least, to be at peace with one another, what is next for Harley? What nefarious plan does Althea have next for Harley? Are there more therapy sessions in store for Althea? If Harley Quinn #51 proves anything, it is that this fight is far from over. As always, I will see you next time friends!
