‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition’ Number 1 in Blu-Ray Disc First-Week Sales

Nearly two weeks ago, the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition Blu-Ray disc hit shelves. I myself opted out of purchasing the digital download in favor of physical media and it paid off. I reviewed the release and found the extended cut, along with the special features, very enjoyable. Check out my review here.

It seems that there are more people like me who not only enjoyed it, but felt they needed to purchase the physical copy of the live-action debut of the DC Trinity.

According to Variety, on the week of its release, the Blu-ray copy of the title helped it hit the number 1 spot on the NPD VideoScan First Alert sales chart. Apparently, Nielson keeps track of Blu-ray and DVD sales via that chart and found that it hit the top spot, with 70% of the copies purchased being the Blu-ray copies, ranking among the “highest first-week Blu-ray percentages ever for a major theatrical release new to disc,” with Star Wars: The Force Awakens holding the record.

Although this news is fantastic, the movie already has a history of starting out well and eventually dying out. But then again, it’s not a theatrical run, so it’s a little different to gauge if DVD/BD sales continue as box offices grosses do.

Do you have a copy? What did you think?
