Meanwhile: Batman Beyond 2.0

SPOILER WARNING
A lot of really cool moments happen weekly in comics. Given the number of titles related to the Dark Knight, it’s kinda hard to follow them all. Every week I’ll recap what I consider the coolest, most memorable moment in the DC Bat-Universe. With that said, please know that these articles will contain SPOILERS. You’ve been warned.
Kyle Higgins (Nightwing) has recently taken the helm of DC’s digital first series, Batman Beyond 2.0. Batman Beyond was the follow-up animated series to the classic Batman: The Animated Series by Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett. The show featured an older Bruce Wayne and a young successor to the Batman mantle, teenager Terry Mcguiness.
DC decided to re-introduce the characters from the animated series several years ago as a miniseries that was so popular that it spawned an ongoing series. Eventually it became one of their lynchpin digital series. The book wrapped up its earlier run with the epic 10,000 Clowns storyline that had major ramifications for the entire cast.
Higgins has started his run with a bang and pow. Terry (Batman) is no longer allied with Bruce Wayne. He now works with former Robin and Nightwing, Dick Grayson and he’s just started college. If those changes to the status quo aren’t enough, in issue #4 we have Terry encounter…

Yup, that’s a young, in his prime Nightwing. That panel is almost identical to the first time Dick Grayson debuted as Nightwing on the Animated Series.
If that’s not cool enough for you, the best is yet to come. After a brief scuffle, Nightwing is joined by the Batman Family in a panel that is quite iconic as well.

Lots of questions need to be answered by Kyle Higgins with these reveals, but what a great moment!
Batman Beyond 2.0 is released digitally (Kindle, iTunes, comixology) bi-weekly on Saturdays and later collected in print. #5 will be out October 5.
