Scott Snyder Drops Major Robin Tease in ‘Absolute Batman’

The cover for Absolute Batman #20 seems to preview that the Absolute version of Robin is coming.

Writer Scott Snyder dropped the previously- redacted cover image on his Instagram. The cover shows Batman armed with axe standing in front of a giant R symbol. Clearly the “R”evokes the Robin logo. However, even that is a little different to the traditional Robin logo.

In the mainstream DC universe, the Dick Grayson and Jason Todd’s Robin logo usually has a bolded “R”. Tim Drake’s Robin logo is a stylized “R” with sharp corners. However the Absolute cover shows a super angular “R” logo. In fact the “R” logo resembles a homemade look, as if someone made a “R” out of masking tape. Perhaps, the Absolute Robin will be a homemade vigilante that Batman inspired.

Which Robin Will Appear in ‘Absolute Batman’?

The real question that are on fans’ minds are: which Robin will debut in the Absolute universe? Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake? Or will it be a dark horse candidate, like Stephanie Brown, Damian Wayne, or someone like Carrie Kelly?

Some casual readers of Absolute Batman may not be aware but Dick Grayson has already appeared in the title. He first appeared in issue number 9 as an adult-aged EMT medic. Absolute Dick Grayson complained how the Batman is too effective in fighting bad guys and breaking bones, to the point where the city ran out of EMT ambulances to drive the injured to the hospital. Amusingly, he rode a rickshaw with a Batman victim while he cursed the Batman under his breath.

So if any Robin is first to appear, Dick would be the prime candidate.

Absolute Batman #20 hits comic shops in May 2026.
