Hot Toys Unveils Alternate Michael Keaton Batman Figure

Adult collectibles company Hot Toys announced a new Michael Keaton as Batman figure that sports a grey and blue color scheme.

Where the Blue and Grey Suit Came From

This figure is a limited run and is inspired by the 70’s and 80’s era of Batman wearing blue and grey colors in his bat-suit. However the figure itself is clearly the Keaton Batman suit with the cowl attached to the cape and even the Batman ’89 inspired bat-logo with alternate colors. So where the heck did this alternate suit design come from?

Actually, this is not one that Hot Toys-exclusive creations. The suit came from that one brief scene in The Flash where Keaton’s Bruce Wayne showed off his armory of old Bat-suits, including the grey and blue one. Yes, we are getting a toy based on a 5 second glimpse of a Batman suit that Batman never even wore in the on-screen. But, hey, that’s how the toy business works sometimes.

Hot Toys Features and Accessories

As per most Hot Toys figures, this Batman comes with a lot of different features and accessories. The figure has that creepy rolling eye ball effect to make it look extra realistic or uncanny valley- depending on your feelings. It also comes with three lower face expression plates that you can interchange: neutral, bloodied, and an odd half-smiling look. There are also 4 pairs of hands: fists, relaxed hands, Batarang-holding hands, open gestured, and Grapel-Gun holding hands. It also has a Batarang with rope accessory. The cape is also fabric with an embedded wire for posing. Finally, it comes with a stand with the bat-logo on it.

Weirdly, the Hot Toys pictures also include a fully-unmasked Bruce Wayne head with Michael Keaton’s likeness. However, it clearly reads that the interchangeable head is “Sold Separately” and then neglects to provide any additional details about how to buy it.

The Uncanny Valley Effect

With that being said, something about the face really makes the figure look bizarrely horrifying. It has to do with the creative design choices of the cowl and the mouth plates and Hot Toys’ rolling eyeball system. Like, the slightly-smiling mouth is disconcerting on its own. But the fact that they came up with a bloodied version is even more terrifying. Additionally, the cowl has an unusually thick brow, neck, and intense forehead creases which gives off the appearance of an older, chunkier Batman. Combine them all together and you get nightmare fuel Batman that will haunt your dreams.

Why is he smiling like that? WHY IS HE SMILING LIKE THAT?!?!

Ahem… as said earlier, the grey and blue suit Batman figure is a limited run of 1,500 figures. They cost $285 USD each. You can pre-order it here. The figures will not be available until sometime in June 2026.
