Former Batman actor George Clooney revealed how he felt that Batman and Robin was his biggest movie regret.
In a recent interview with Movieweb, Clooney said that that was a movie that he should have declined. Clooney also said how he was not fit for the role. That feeling extends to even talking with his kids.
“My son actually dressed as Batman for Halloween. He hasn’t seen the movie. I said, ‘You know, I was Batman.’ He’s like, ‘Not really.’ I was like, ‘You have no idea how right you are.’”
To be fair to Clooney, this is a sentiment that is shared amongst his co-stars Chris O’Donnell and Alicia Silverstone.
George Clooney’s Batman Origins
In other related news, ER director Christopher Chulack revealed how Clooney’s performance in an episode of ER led to him getting the Batman role. Chulack said that it was easy for Clooney to catch the eye of executives since ER was already such a massive hit. Specifically, it was his performance in the episode “Hell and High Water”. That episode featured Clooney’s ER character, Dr. Doug Ross, rescuing a young boy trapped in a flooded storm drain.
“So I knew that the show was already a hit. That episode got 45 million viewers. The next day, Bob Daley and Terry Semel, who were the presidents of Warner Bros. Television, came down and knocked on George’s dressing room door and told him, ‘You’re going to be the next Batman because of the heroism of that episode.’”
While we know that Batman and Robin was not considered a success, George Clooney did go on to have a robust film career. And Batman and Robin couldn’t have been that bad. Clooney did a cameo appearance as Bruce Wayne at the end of The Flash.
