JSA #12 is upon us and with it comes “Ragnarok” Part Two Finale.  Leonardo Romero gives a stunning Hero themed mirror cover to JSA #11’s Villain themed side. The Justice Society of America is all poised and ready for the battle just as the Injustice Society of America were on their cover.  Ready for battle they are and hungry for this book I was so let’s join the JSA members back in the fray as The Nameless Ones make their appearance!

Little Boy Blue And The Man In The Moon

The effects of The Nameless Ones ripping into the existence of this Universe are being felt everywhere. From Louisiana with Swamp Thing losing his mind to Central City with The Flash stuck in a continuing nightmare. Meanwhile in Holsteinsborg, Germany those members of the Justice Society who arrived to intercede the Injustice Society now find themselves ground Zero with the device bringing The Nameless Ones into their world and they are waking up! The plan?

Stop the machine. Let nothing hinder that endeavor.

Stand-offs happen as the Injustice Society has literally the same plan. Let no one pass to get to Wotan and Sorrow at the machine.  But Mr. Terrific shows up with “the reserves” and the numbers shift. A quick recap of information for the joining members soon leads Khalid and Yolanda racing towards Wotan. Kid Eternity II also learns her part to play in the battle of The Nameless Ones.

You Get Back Up

Kid Eternity II indeed has a huge part to play as JSA #12 unfolds. Bigger it seems than what this story has the room to hold, which is indeed exciting! Jeff Lemire has let this arc of the story meet with an ending but there are so many wonderful moments that we get to experience along the way.  The way that Diego Olortegui and Luis Guerrero bring the face-off triangle of Jade, Ruby, and Alan to life is stunning. The platform that they deliver on in order to tell a story with a facial expression and one line is pretty potent.

Doesn’t that just describe this team’s style throughout this series, but pointedly with JSA #12. A potent cocktail indeed is poured when a massive cliffhanger grabs you by the cape. Or cowl if you so prefer. Kid Eternity II has been a real joy to see as her powers have evolved and showcased in several ways. Even ways still as yet unknown, even to her. I now look forward to seeing more about just who she really is.

Conclusion

JSA #12 is an astounding finale to a genuinely fun walk through both past and the present of the Justice Society of America. I love the glimpses into the life of the individuals so that we get layers of information as the story unfolds. The ripples of the weight of choices we make and how our past can revisit us.  How those who pass, never really go away. Brilliantly done guys. Simply splendid.
