Nightwing #130 felt like a reset before a big event. Let’s get all our affairs in order. The beginning is the end is the beginning…

The Dark Nightwing

This run has been very consistent. For me that is the absolute key for a good story. Consistent writing, art, story, direction. It keeps the story as one tight little unit that you can have in your brain. I’m not saying that the art style can’t shift slightly, or an annual or event can’t be a little diversion. That’s life. But for now this has been constant spooky slightly grittier Nightwing. Street violence. Evil Robocop police drones Creepy Circus ghosts. Fifth dimensional imps. I’ve enjoyed it. This issue, seems to remind us of all of the current plot threads that we have which is what I’ve been wanting for a while now. So it was great to have this. Especially with DC KO coming out next month. Who knows how that will affect ongoing titles.

Nightwing Prime, Nightwing+ , Nightwing Max, Nightwing Go

The biggest plot explored in this issue was that of Bryce, the young boy who found himself transformed into Nightwing Prime, the original Nightwing from Krypton. There are a lot of ways they could approach this. I really really hope that they break the mold a bit and do something different. Because I really don’t want to read the same story that happens whenever aaaanyone has a power upgrade. Here’s hoping for something new.

Conclusion

Nightwing #130 is a jumping on point for new/returning readers. It’s a good issue in the grand scheme, and it feels like it’s setting up a big change for Nightwing. ‘Till Next time Caped Crusaders!
