Harley Quinn #48 is out this week and with it our first sight of Poison Ivy in this series arc in more than name. What an issue to feature in as Harley is actively being pursued by Professor Pyg. An interesting character to say the least. When last we left Harley she was in the dumps. Defeated and flaky on her self view, she finds herself at war with her inner narrator yet again. Seems to be a consistent theme amongst the DC characters lately. Let’s go tiptoe through the tulips.
Defend Your Brother-Daddy-Husband
In the garden of a made Eden, Harley begins Harley Quinn #48 arguing with herself amongst the peace. After a failed attempt to kick her own self in the head, Harley sots down with Ivy to discuss all that is filling her brain pan. Including her attraction to the Nemesis responsible for trying to take down Throatcutter Hill. Ivy takes it all in stride but tries to tell Harley that he want for everyone to like her is tripping her up. That she just needs to focus on Harley. But their conversation is interrupted when the girls find themselves kidnapped by Pyg.
Professor Pyg has it in his noggin that Harley has been wooing him, and to show his affection he has a great spring time plan. To give his love a Dollotron minion of her own, a mindless, obedient Ivy. Harley’s work in Throatcutter Hill has garnered his attention and that attention has sparked something far worse…
You’ve Got A High Degree Of Knowledge. No You Do!
Harley Quinn #48 was certainly a wild ride for a number of reasons. we do finally get to see Harley and Ivy have a conversation but the chaos of Pyg and the lesson to take away from it will be seen reflecting in next issue. The pull away seems to be though that all of this work Harley has been doing is for naught. Ivy’s conversation transitioning to Pyg’s obsession due to her recent hiring and work all lend to this conclusion.
The art and writing are good in Harley Quinn #48. Elliot Kalan strings along readers with humor and tense moments. Mindy Lee, Triona Farrell, and Lucas Gattoni follow suit with their individual talents. Quite a ride indeed.
Conclusion
We will see what is to be the finale once Harley Quinn makes up with her mind. Harley Quinn #48 sets readers up for a climax. But which kind is up for debate. Our answers await us next month and next issue friends. See you for Harley Quinn #49!
