Sate Farm Insurance unveiled an amazing Batman-themed commercial featuring ridiculously comic-accurate takes on Batman and his rogues gallery… and Bateman?
The commercial features comedian Jason Bateman in his superhero alter ego Bateman. As Bateman, he goes up against Gotham City’s toughest rogues, including the Joker, Two-Face, the Riddler, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. Bateman fumbles around as the various villains easily defeat him. He only saved by the timely intervention of a certain Caped Crusader and Jake from State Farm (naturally).
What is most striking is how high the production budget was. Batman and his rogues gallery also looked like they stepped right off the comic book pages. Seriously, check out this unusually cool ad from the insurance company.
While you are at it, you can get a better look at the cool character costumes in these behind-the-scenes photos posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.

State Farm released an official description of the commercial.
“For the first time ever, Batman and Bateman share the screen in a hilarious showdown that highlights the differences that set State Farm apart from its competitors. Because when it comes to protection, you don’t just want coverage – you want State Farm.”
Part of the impressive budget is the cast of celebrity cameos the commercial featured. In addition to Jason Bateman as Bateman, Grammy-winning R&B artist SZA played Catwoman. Internet stars Kai Cenat and Jordan the Stallion played Gotham City citizens and Commissioner Gordon respectively.
Why Did State Farm Choose Batman?
State Farm chief agency, sales and marketing officer Kristyn Cook talked about the ad campaign. The joke is that Batman is like the premium coverage that State Farm offers, while Bateman is considered the less inclusive coverage that their competitors have.
“This campaign creates an opportunity for our brand that is known for driving cultural relevancy through entertainment to boldly ask consumers if they’re confident the insurance they have includes the coverage they need. Through the juxtaposition of Batman and Bateman, we’re building the narrative for consumers to look at the insurance industry and question the value being offered by our competitors. Because it’s clear that just having insurance isn’t the same as getting the full value of having State Farm.”
To be honest, I am not in the market looking for new insurance. However, I am glad that Batman and his cast of characters get a cool spotlight on such a grand scale.
