Two-Face #3 is upon us readers, and with it a delightfully wicked cover by Baldemar Rivas. The “Come to Baby!” cover features Baby Doll holding a ventriloquist version of Two-Face. The colorist and lighting are so nice in the way they spotlight the details of the art.  When last we left things, The Shadow Hand were making their moves against The White Church and Harvey. Distractions are the last thing Harvey needs as he struggles to keep his mind-prison in place and the life he wants seemingly within reach. Speaking of which…let’s dive in.

I Doubt You Want To Miss This

Speaking of the life he wants being within reach, the first page of Two-Face #3 is probably the greatest punch in the face I have seen for a while. Harvey, as Two-Face, is crossing the great expanse of his mind to make his way back to his previous life. Along his way he is stopped by Harvey Dent, before the acid, who tells him he looks exhausted and that the quest is futile.  Exhausted is right, the Judge has to wake him in the middle of a case being accepted. Lake joins their newest client, The Ventriloquist. Scarface has been taken.

Lake learns through a series of misadventures in which the goal is fact finding, Harvey is not doing so well. The control, the righteous path seems to be faltering. Violence is scratching through the surface as the details all lead to Mary Louise Dahl, Baby Doll. But the motives are unclear and flawed as Doubt makes not only their, but the Shadow Hand’s presence known. Some knowledge you can’t come back from Harvey.

You Never Stood A Chance

Christian Ward has done a wonderful job setting up the path to the Shadow Hand showing some of their cards. There is a lot of revealing information given in Two-Face #3, as well as action. The fight scenes are so stunning in their bluntness, my jaw was dropped at the same quickness of Miriam.  Fabio Veras and Ivan Plascencia use their crafts like jabs, uppercuts in each panel as the plot thickens and the tensions rise.

Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou doesn’t slouch though as there are many scenes in which a letterer, must show their muster. One of my favorite examples has to be when we visit our favorite visitor of the mind-prison. In testing the system, we see an immune system in action as the “Warden” staunches any uprising or action it seems a threat. Watch how this team soars in imagery.

Conclusion

Two-Face #3 gets the ball rolling as the movements made in the shadows have now seen the vestiges of light. What choices await Harvey and the work he has done to regain his former life is on the line. We will have to see what happens next time friends!
