Rocksteady Reportedly Making New Batman Game

Game developer Rocksteady may be working on another single-player Batman game.

This rumor comes on the heels of a disappointing 2024 year for the developer. Rocksteady lost about $200 million on Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice LeagueSuicide Squad’s commercial flop is just one game in a list of failures for Warner Bros. Discovery’s game department. Other failures include MultiVersus and Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions.

Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav admitted that their video game department not been performing to the company’s expectations.

“We recognize [the games business] is substantially under-performing its potential right now… We are focusing our development efforts on those core franchises, with proven studios to improve our success ratio”

Amongst the different franchises, Batman and Games of Thrones rose to the top. Does this look likely that Rocksteady will make another Arkham video game?

The Likelihood That Rocksteady is Developing Batman

According to a report,  the studio “is looking to return to Batman for a single-player game”. On top of that, there are still demand for games set in the Arkham universe. Batman: Arkham Shadow is performing well on the Quest VR set and recently hit a million players.

Reportedly, Batman and the Justice League were found to be still alive at the end of Suicide Squad. However, given how ill-received the recent DLC ending and the main game were, Rocksteady might elect to just ignore the story developments of that game.

Regardless, a new single-player Batman game is still years away from release. Fans can continue to replay the Arkham trilogy as well as its side-games Arkham Origins and Arkham Shadow.
