DC Comics revealed the comic book variant covers for the upcoming “Hush 2” story line in Batman.
“Hush 2” promises the return of Hush- as well as the original story arc’s creative team of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee. Not much else is known about the anticipated sequel. However, the tease at the end teaser of Justice League Unlimited #1 implies that Hush has a new plan that involves Catwoman, Joker, and Red Hood. Some new variant covers seem to highlight a three-way rivalry between Batman, Joker, and Red Hood.
Another interesting detail to note, it looks like Batman is returning to the yellow badge Bat-symbol. The last time he wore it was back in 2020’s Three Jokers series. However since then, his default look has been the badge-less bat. Will Batman don the badge Bat-symbol in “Hush 2”? What could the in-story reason for that be?
Multitudes of Variant Covers
Jim Lee himself are providing multiple variant covers along with his frequent collaborators inker Scott Williams and colorist Alex Sinclair. Other artists illustrating variant covers include Dan Mora, Gabriel Dell’Otto, Lee Bermejo, and Simone Di Meo.
To boost the collectibles market, DC also will release pencils-only covers, and uncolored, wrap-around autographed edition covers by Lee and another one by Loeb. Those special autograph covers come in a 1:608 ratio- meaning that a retailer needs to order 608 copies of comic to receive one autograph cover. Why 608? That is in honor of Batman #608- which is the first chapter of the original Hush story line.
There is also a wraparound variant with both Lee and Loeb’s autograph. The variant ratio is an insane 1:1000 copies to give that collectible nature a triple-boost.
The first chapter of “Hush 2” begins in Batman #158, which hits in comic shops on March 26, 2025.
