Review by James Attias
Nightwing #121 takes us to Nightwing’s dark place. A boy has been killed. No more Mr Nice Wing.
Breaking Necks and Cashing Checks
Welcome back Wing Fans, we’re treated to a very emotional, and gripping issue this time around. We get to see Dick doing some day time recon for this new case, taking a page out of his James Bond Dad’s book, Dick puts on his best suit and tries to talk about the only thing a rich deceptive villainous organisation wants… Money and Power. I’m really enjoying the new villains and new gangs in the title, it really takes me back to 90’s Batman movies and teases a little bit of Batman Beyond. Really nice to see the book growing as well as the characters.
Do You Ever Wonder Boy?
The art and the artist always take me back to New 52 Red Hood and the Outlaws. But after reading this issue and doing my utmost not to compare it to the Fantastic work of Bruno Redondo. This is where we live now. Nightwing is darker, and slightly grittier under this new creative team, so the art should reflect that. and it does. I’m growing to like this book more and more every issue, looking forward to the new levels we’re taken on. Some of the dialogue in this issue, will stick with me for a while. Well written and well drawn. A double hit for me.
Conclusion
Nightwing #121 is yet another great read. Hard hitting, heart warming and thrilling throughout. Keep it Up! Also look out of a sneak peak at the new Metamorpho book from Al Ewing! Who I spoke to at Thought Bubble!
