Batman Battles Werewolves in ‘Batman: Full Moon’

DC Comics announced the mature-rated mini-series Batman: Full Moon where the Dark Knight dukes it out with werewolves.

Full Moon is a four-issue monthly DC Black Label series for adult readers only.  Eisner-nominated writer Rodney Barnes  and artist Stevan Subic are the creative team for the series. According to the DC Comics synopsis, Batman contends with a powerful supernatural force that may be too much for him.

An ancient and supernatural force stalks the streets of Gotham City—a werewolf so powerful it’ll defy Batman’s most trusted resources: his brilliant mind and extensive gadgetry. But are Batman’s physical strength and resilience alone enough to put the creature down for good, or will this fight strip him down to his very bones? Even powerful magical allies like Zatanna caution the Dark Knight that he may not walk away from this encounter unscathed.

Is there something more going on other than an army of werewolves? What is this ancient magical force?

To top off the horror craziness, the main cover by Subic will be glow-in-the-dark. If that is not your thing-but why wouldn’t it be?- then the variant covers also showcase amazing art. Steve Beach, Francesco Francavilla, and Mike Perkins contribute to variant covers for the first issue.

The Creators Behind ‘Full Moon’

Barnes has mostly written Star Wars comics for Marvel. However, he will make his DC debut soon in the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold #13.  Stevan Subic’s art  made a huge splash in the Riddler: Year One mini-series that he created with the Riddler himself Paul Dano a few years ago. If you are familiar with the mini-series, Subic’s illustrations are insane, wild, and down-right disturbing. In other words, perfect for a horror comic like Full Moon.

Batman: Full Moon hits comic shops on October 9th- just in time for Halloween.
