DC Announces New ‘Zatanna: Bring Down the House’ Series

One of the most powerful magicians in the DC Universe, Zatanna is getting a brand new series, Zatanna: Bring Down the House. Mariko Tamaki (Detective Comics, Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass, Crush and Lobo) and artist Javier Rodríguez (Batman: The Brave and The Bold, The Dreaming: Waking Hours, Tales of the Titans) team up to give us a new adventure in Sin City, set to be released on June 25th.

In this DC Black Label (17+) series, the greatest entertainer to the worst hotel and casino off the Las Vegas strip, Zatanna, is being sought after by ritzier hotels wanting her as their headliner. After her childhood was changed by a devastating magical accident, Zatanna would rather keep her trademark top hat and fishnets as a sleight-of-hand stage act than bother with real magic. Unfortunately for her, Zatanna will be forced to confront her trauma when an interdimensional vortex cracks open the very stage she is performing on, releasing a hellish demon set on killing her.

Tamaki said:

I couldn’t be more thrilled to be working with this team, and having the opportunity to tell a story that spotlights Zatanna. We’re very excited for people to see this weird little story we’ve whipped up for their reading pleasure.

Artist Rodríguez said:

I encourage readers to join us on this journey in search of magic. There is nothing more fun than working on a character like Zatanna who, issue after issue, invites you to explore every nook and cranny of the language of comics.

Zatanna: Bring Down the House is available to pre-order from March 15th and features a main cover from Rodríguez themself, and includes variant covers by Jorge Jiménez, Alvaro Martinez Bueno, Artgerm, and Mikel Janín. See your local comic book shop for further details.
