DC Announces Next Crossover ‘Absolute Power’

DC Comics has revealed their next event, Absolute Power, with Amanda Waller as the antagonist again.

At a ComicsPRO retailer show, DC announced the series which will be helmed by the Batman/ Superman: World’s Finest creative team of Mark Waid and Dan Mora, who will write and illustrate the comic.

Amanda Waller has the plan to rob meta-humans of their superpowers and will team up with a female Brainiac and Failsafe, from the Batman, comics to do it.

The series will primarily focus on the main DC trinity of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman.

This year’s Free Comic Book Day special edition, released on May 4th 2024, has a prologue to the event and will contain a 12-page story by Waid and Mikel Janín. After that, there will be a one-shot Absolute Power: Ground Zero special, too. The one-shot will bridge what’s been occurring in Superman comics, World’s Finest, and the main event series.

Ground Zero comes out in June.

The Road to ‘Absolute Power’

Current DC readers know that Absolute Power is something that’s been a long time coming. In Batman, Failsafe continues to be a threat, not just to the Dark Knight, but to all the heroes of Earth. He’s become even more of a threat since Batman’s more ruthless Zur-En-Arrh personality downloaded himself into Failsafe’s android body.

Meanwhile, in Superman comics, Brainiac’s been teasing that he has big plans for the Man of Steel. Most recently in Beast World, Amanda Waller has doubled down on her hatred towards the Titans and even taken over the old Hall of Justice as her new government headquarters.

Absolute Power #1 will hit comic shops on July 2nd.
