Todd Phillips Shares New Photo Of Joaquin Phoenix In Joker 2

Joker: Folie à Deux wrapped principal photography earlier this year, and director Todd Phillips has now shared a new look at Joker, played by Joaquin Phoenix. The upcoming sequel to Joker (2019) sees Phoenix return to the role of Arthur Fleck/The Joker. Lady Gaga joins him on screen as Dr. Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn.

Shared to Instagram, is Arthur Fleck, standing in the rain between bright umbrellas with his face to the sky. Over the picture, beautiful instrumental music can be heard, and it really adds atmosphere. Posted on October 4th, this new look marked exactly one year until the film will be released in cinemas.

When filming wrapped earlier this year, Phillips also shared a new look at beloved Harley Quinn in another Instagram post. The photo is simple, showing Harley’s worn makeup, short blonde hair, and a wooden background. He posted the picture with the caption:

That’s a wrap. Thanks to these two (+ the entire cast) and the BEST crew that the film industry has to offer, from top to bottom. Gonna crawl into a cave now (edit room) and put it all together.

Folie à Deux will see the return of Zazie Beetz, as she reprises her role as Sophie Dumond, Fleck’s love interest in the first movie. There are also new additions to the lineup; Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland. Joker 2 was announced to be a musical shortly after its production was announced.

Beetz said:

Todd has always had a creative approach to the character. I love musicals, and I think of them as the characters are feeling and experiencing so much that they can only sing and dance about it, whether in sorrow or in joy.

Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to hit cinemas on October 4, 2024. Joker is available to buy on Blu-ray or streaming now.
