Review by Fay Clark

Everything’s been hazy and crazy with Ivy lately, so we can only expect more of the same wild nature from Poison Ivy #11Pamela really just needs to go back to Harley and take a vacation.

Be Mindful of the Mindless

G. Willow Wilson isn’t one to mess around. She goes right in for the jugular. Her writing gives me so much to think about at the end of a short 22-page comic and this issue’s no different. Ivy’s having to make difficult decisions and Wilson’s commentary about the planet, and how we treat it, have shifted slightly. Although she’s still an advocate for getting the green back into the planet, we see a lot more about humanity.

Pamela’s made some… interesting decisions in her past that are now not only effecting her but also the people around her, in particular the one or two that she actually cares about.

G. Willow Wilson is cutting through all the Poison and is asking the reader what they think matters more. The lives we have now, or the future of the planet. I’m starting to expect this from the Ivy series, hard-hitting questions wrapped up in a fun little adventure romp. I want Poison Ivy to be proud of us as people, but first I think she has to sort out her own feelings toward humanity. This much in-depth psychological reasoning isn’t something I came to the series for, but it’s definitely one of the reasons I’m sticking around.

Goddess of the Green or Humble Human

The Art team has done it again. Marcio Takara and Arif Prianto create such beautiful Imagery. There are several times in Poison Ivy #11 that I had to remind myself to keep reading and not just stare at the artwork. The depiction of Pam in certain moments is so raw and angry, while in others it’s graceful and loving.

Being able to see that change happen on a character’s face right in front of you is stunning. As always, Prianto creates an amazing color pallet that anyone would love to look at all day long. I cannot imagine this series being what it is without these two artists working on the mind-blowing Poison vision scenes.

Conclusion

Don’t sleep on this series. Every time I pick a new issue up to read I get so excited and thoughtful. Enjoying your time reading a comic and having a thoughtful moment after it means that the creative team is doing their jobs amazingly. This is a series I will be thinking about for a very long time to come.
